SOWDERS REMAINS TAKEN TO BRENHAM

  

The body Adam Sowders, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Investigator gunned down while serving a warrant near Snook, was taken to the Brenham Memorial Oaks Funeral Homes last (Friday) night in a law enforcement led procession from Austin.

Sowders was shot and killed while serving the warrant with seven other deputies at a mobile home in the pre-dawn hours Thursday.

Sowder’s remains came from Austin where he underwent a preliminary autopsy.

Funeral services for Sowders are set for Friday, December 27th at one pm at the Central Baptist Church in College Station.   The burial will be immediately after a funeral service at Oak Lawn Cemetery on Highway 36 in Somerville.

The Adam Sowders Law Enforcement Continuing Education scholarship memorial fund has been established at the Citizens State Bank in Somerville.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the shooting death continues.  Twenty-eight year old Henry Goedrich Magee of Somerville is charged with capital murder and is being held at the Washington County Jail under a one million dollar bond.

Sowders joined the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office seven years ago and had just been promoted to Sergeant Investigator.  He was 31-year old graduate of Somerville who went on to become a law enforcement  officer.  He graduated from the TEEX Central Texas Police Academy ten years ago.

The Texas Rangers are continuing their investigation.
