SPECIAL OLYMPICS TORCH RUN TO GO THROUGH BRENHAM THURSDAY MORNING

Law enforcement officers from all across Texas will come in to Brenham tonight to run with the Special Olympics torch as it takes its tour through the town.

Tonight there will be a private dinner for the runners and their supporters at the Brenham American Legion Hall on North Park Street at 6:30.

Breakfast will be served tomorrow (Thursday) morning at the Firemen’s Training Center.

The run that carries the torch will begin at 9:00 a.m. on S. Market in the Higgins Branch south parking lot at the old J.C. Penny’s. The runners will move up S. Market, then turn left to head down Main Street, past the courthouse.

They will take right on North Park St. and come to an end at the parking lot across from Fireman’s Park.

The Special Olympians of the Brenham Independent School District will ride along with the runners during the parade.  Special Athlete Cristian Grawunder will be running with the Torch Runners through downtown.

Streets used for the routes will be closed during the run, and commuters should plan accordingly.

Grawunder will also be the lone Brenham representative competing at the games and will be part of the games’ opening ceremonies as a torch bearer.
