STAR OF THE REPUBLIC SEEKS VOLUNTEER MUSEUM GUIDES BEGINNING THIS FALL

Blinn College’s Star of the Republic Museum seeks volunteer museum guides, or docents, to assist with school tours beginning this fall.

Docents will lead groups of approximately 20 students at a time through the exhibit area, sharing interesting information about early Texas. To become a docent, volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, communicate effectively with children and have a positive attitude, a love of learning and an interest in Texas history.

School tours are offered weekdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and docents may choose which days of the week they wish to volunteer. Docents will be required to attend two orientation sessions, and some independent reading and research will be required.

Applications are available at www.starmuseum.org, and the deadline to apply is July 8. Interviews will be conducted and qualified applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact Anne McGaugh, curator of education, at 979-878-2461, ext. 237, or amcgaugh@blinn.edu.
