STATE INVESTIGATING MISSING FUNDS AT “MISSION BRENHAM”

An investigation is underway into missing funds at Mission Brenham.

Brenham District Attorney Julie Renken confirmed that the investigation into missing funds is being conducted by the Brenham Police Department and Texas Rangers.

Renken’s office has turned over any prosecution of the case to the State’s Attorney General’s office.  Renken has recused herself from the case due to her relationship with Mission Brenham as a volunteer and donor.

Officials with Mission Brenham have not commented on the case.

Mission Brenham hosts a number of youth programs and a summer camp called Jesus and Me (JAM), which faced danger of closure when the investigation began in May.

Authorities have not commented on how much money had allegedly been mishandled, but due to financial issues, Mission Brenham had to turn over control of the JAM Acdemy to Champions Fellowship Church.

  1. I agree no checks and balances? Jessica how do we know it was a woman? Seems like there is a quick to judge and a presumed guilt of a certain individual with a ongoing investigation. I feel for Mission Brenham and the children that were effected. GOD has a plan to continue to give them the spiritual guidance they need. But that guidance should also come from home not solely be the responsibility of an organization.

    1. And yes you are right @Just Me…this will greatly affect the children. I pray our community can pull through and make those responsible for this have accountability.

  2. Why isn’t KWHI reporting all the facts? Why hasn’t the name of the woman that was arrested by the Texas Rangers been released? And why hasn’t the “real” amount that has “gone missing” been let known to the public. All the funds that are missing were heart given donations. What is there to hide? Is it because certain board members are supposed “pillars” of the community? It doesn’t matter who you are? Image is nothing when something like this has happened.

    1. KWHI is not reporting about an arrest because as of noon today, no arrests have been made. This is an active investigation by the Texas Rangers and the Texas Attorney General’s Office. No details about the amount of money missing have been released to the media.

  3. Something sounded fishy from the start! Are there no checks and balances in place to keep this from happening? Wonder if any heads are gonna roll on this or if it will all be swept under the rug!!

  4. That’s so sad that someone would taking from something that’s helping children in the community….
