STEGENT & KUBECZKA ON APACHES NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Two former Brenham Cub baseball players have won a national championship.

After a 2 and 1/2 hour rain delay the Tyler Apaches defeated Cumberland Co. New Jersey, 6-3, to claim the NJCAA Division III National title. 

Former Cubs Eric Stegent and Kevin Kubeczka are sophomores with the Apaches.

Stegent finished the tournament with a .471 batting average and was awarded the Marucci Award for highest batting average of the tournament.  Stegent was also was named to the all tournament team.

Apaches finish the season with a 42-17 record overall, and 4-0 in the World Series.
