STOLEN PICKUP FOUND ENGULFED IN FLAMES

A pickup truck was stolen from a man making a quick stop at a convenience store at midnight today (Friday).  The Chappell Fire Department found the truck engulfed in flames moments later.

Brenham Police Officer Lance Weiss responded to the scene of the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot at 2450 Becker Drive, after a man called saying his vehicle had been stolen.

He told the officer he stopped at a convenience store/gas station at midnight for a quick purchase. He left his doors open and the engine running.  When he saw the store was closed he turned around and saw someone driving away in the pickup.

While he was telling this Officer Weiss, a call came in from the Chappell Hill Fire Department saying they had found the truck, in flames in the 600 block of Old Chappell Hill Road. The case remains under investigation.
