STORMS CAUSE OUTAGES IN BLUEBONNET SERVICE AREA

Officials with Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative report the line of strong storms late Friday and early Saturday, caused significant damage to the company’s electric grid.

Power outages were reportedly widespread and affected more than 10,000 meters at the peak, with the most severe damage concentrated in central and northern Bastrop County, central and northern Lee County and northern Burleson County.

Bluebonnet’s general manager Mark Rose says it was a strong, fast-moving storm system with high winds that snapped trees, power poles and cross arms, and lightning that damaged transformers and fuses.

Rose says Bluebonnet Electric personnel are working all day and through the night until all the power is back on.

As of noon Saturday, Bluebonnet reported 140 individual outages affecting 7,474 members.
