STUDENTS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS FROM HLSR
Seventy-nine students in the Houston area—including one from Washington County—received nearly $1.6 million in scholarships from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, presented during the Area Go Texan Scholarship Banquet, last week.
Students were selected from 68 Area Go Texan counties. One student from each county was awarded a $20,000 scholarship, along with the top student from each of the 11 districts.
The $20,000 Scholarship recipient from Washington County is Austin Derkowski, the son of Shawn and Carrie Derkowski.
Meanwhile, sixteen students in Washington County are going to college with help from the $24,000 in scholarships from the Washington County Go Texan Committee. Each student will receive $1500.
This year’s Scholarship recipients include:
Burton High School: Wesley Fehrle, Emily Harmel, Calley McGinley, and MacKenzie Wilke.
Brenham High School: Kennedy Altmann, Alexis Antkowiak, Madelyn Chadd, Jacob Jozwiak, Ruth Anne Kettler, Alaina Kohring, Ashley Mixon, Hunter Prazak, Raleigh Scherer, Caroline Schulz, and Pierce Weiss.
And, Home Schooled: Emily Seeker.
