SUDDENLINK REMOVES LOCAL COMMUNITY CHANNEL

Brenham cable TV provider Suddenlink has removed the local community channel from their lineup.  That channel has always carried the KWHI audio.  It was originally on channel 10 but was moved to channel 95 in recent years.   When KWHI spoke with Suddenlink Senior Vice President Patrick O’Connor last year, he stated that community channels were outdated and that people used the internet now for that information.  At that time he said that the channel would be removed in 2016 to provide bandwidth for other channels and increased internet speed.  Inquiries about the move need to be made to Suddenlink.

  1. Sudden link is making an erroneous assumption regarding rural communities. There are countless people with NO computer access or computer skills, for that matter . These people depend upon the local radio stations to keep them informed. I know of many elderly residents who keep their televisions tuned to the “KWHI channel” most of the day. Perhaps it’s time for them to rethink their television provider!!!!!

  2. Maybe it’s time to remove Suddenlink from Brenham. Who makes those decisions ?
