SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER STAND OFF IN FAYETTE CO.

The suspect from Sunday’s multi-county pursuit has been apprehended after a lengthy standoff with law enforcement in Fayette County.

A property owner made contact with the suspect on her property located off US Hwy 90. The witness’ description of the suspect was similar to the man involved in a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement which started in Gonzales County this past Saturday.

The witness said that the suspect had accessed a cabin on the property and that a loaded AR-15 rifle was in the cabin.

Law Enforcement made contact with the suspect who threatened to take his own life.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek and Texas Ranger Brent Barina eventually talked the man into giving up and he was taken into custody.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Colorado County Deputies, The Weimar Police Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, DPS Troopers, DPS SWAT units, and the Texas Rangers set a perimeter around the cabin.  A DPS Helicopter provided support from the air.
