TAXES GOING UP; WHILE RATE STAYS THE SAME IN OAK HILL ACRES

Property taxes in the Oak Hill Fresh Water Supply District near Brenham will be going up, even though the tax rate will remain the same.

The Oak Hill Water Board has voted to keep the tax rate at 34.78 cents per $100 valuation….the same as last year.  Due to an increase in property values in the Oak Hill Acres subdivision located three miles north of Brenham on Highway 36, there is a resulting 5.77 percent increase in property taxes.  The average property value in Oak Hill Acres rose by over $13,000 to $242,721.  If the tax rate is adopted, the average homeowner in Oak Hill Acres would pay an additional $46.12 in taxes to the Water District.  The proposed tax rate would bring in an addition $6,995 in revenue to the District.

A public hearing on the proposed tax rate for 2015 for the Oak Hill Fresh Water Supply District will be held next Tuesday, September 15th at 5 p.m. at the Washington County Emergency Medical Services Office, 1875 Highway 290 in Brenham.
