TCEQ TO HOLD MEETING ON PROPOSED LANDFILL IN HEMPSTEAD TONIGHT

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has scheduled a meeting tonight (Tuesday) for the public to share their comments on the proposed Pintail Landfill. A new landfill application has been filed for a site on Highway 6, one mile north of the City of Hempstead.

This comes after a legal battle over a landfill proposed by the same company spanned years, seemingly ending in February of 2015.

The site for this new landfill application is on a portion of the overall tract for which the prior landfill application was submitted. Pintail says they are “confident that the new application meets all applicable design and location standards.”

The TCEQ public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Hempstead High School Auditorium, located at 801 Donoho Street.
