TCEQ TO TAKE PUBLIC COMMENTS ON GALVANIZATION

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will take comments from the public concerning Valmont Industries’ new application to amend its current air quality permit.

Valmont Industries plans on converting an existing building in Brenham into a galvanizing operation. According to a legal notice ran in the Banner-Press, the plant would emit “organic compounds, hazardous air contaminants, nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and particulate matter.” The TCEQ’s executive director says the permit seems to meet regulations, however a public hearing could be called if there is significant public concern in the matter.

Public comments can be submitted to TCEQ at www.tceq.texas.gov/about/comments.html. The permit’s application number is 43120.

  1. This location is south of the city so the prevailing south wind makes sure that Brenham residents will get a good dose of the cancer causing pollution from this industry. The school playgrounds and parks will get good exposure to the pollutants. This stuff is poison and they are doing it here because they think you don’t care. If you care about your loved ones, contact the TCEQ AND Leighton Schuberts office.
