TEN SENTENCED IN LOCAL COURT

  

 

 

Joshua Griffin
(Washington Co. Jail)

A College Station man has been sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to drug charge in 21st District Court in Brenham.

30-year old Joshua Ray Griffin was arrested just over one year ago on a charge of Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Griffin was sentenced last Thursday to ten years in prison.  The sentence was not publicly announced until late Monday afternoon.

Nolan Sconyers
(Washnigton Co. Jail)

28-year old Nolan Joseph Sconyers had his probation on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon revoked and was sentenced to five years in prison and was fined $1500.

Also in Thursday’s District Court:

24-year old Craig Allen Sweed of Washington, was sentenced to three years in prison on each of two charges:  Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Evidence.  Sweed was arrested back in October of last year.

Tancello Randle
(Washington Co., Jail)

36-year old Tancello Denise Randle of Chappell Hill, was sentenced to 18 months in jail on s charge of Theft of less than $1500 with two previous convictions.

24-year old Dalton Roberts of Burton was sentenced to 15 months in jail for Attempted Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

52-year old Calvin Earl Basey, Sr. of Brenham was sentenced to 120 day in the Washington County Jail for Evading Arrest with a Previous Conviction.

33-year old Latasha Monroe of Bryan was sentenced to nine months behind bars for Theft of less than $2500 with two or more previous convictions.

22-year old Dayon Demarcus Goodwin of Willis was placed on eight years’ probation for Burglary of a Habitation.  Goodwin was also fined $1500, ordered to pay $620 in restitution and perform 250 hours of community service.

And, 19-year old Jorge Adan Martinez of Brenham was placed on four years’ probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

  1. I will retry, without mentioning previous names. We see here a defendant who received 10 years for their first degree delivery of a controlled substance conviction, rather than the minimum sentence of 5 years which was a recent case. We see here other people convicted on drug charges, theft, burglary – which are very often drug related. We also saw a murder conviction with a life sentence in Burleson County that was drug related.
