TERRY ROBERTS TO RETIRE AT THE END OF THE YEAR

Longtime Brenham City Manager Terrry Roberts will be stepping down at the end of the year.

Terry Roberts

Roberts has announced that he will be retiring January 31st, after 17 years in the position.

Roberts has 42 years of government service, working for six Texas cities, including: San Marcos, Diboll, Yoakum, Seguin and El Campo before arriving in Brenham.

He has served as Brenham’s top administrator since February of 2001.  He is Brenham’s eighth city manager.

Roberts, who is 64, says he’s looking forward to enjoying his family and spending time traveling and with family.

He says he’s excited about the next phase of his life, which could include some consulting work.

The city will begin its recruitment of their next city manager later this month.  The mayor and city council plan to select the next city manager before the end of the year.

A candidate brochure is being developed for prospective candidates.  The position will officially be posted next week.

Roberts said he has been “honored to serve the citizens of Brenham alongside the team of city employees” during his time here.

  1. well I think that this is a good deal all the way around brenham needs someone new in this position with new ideas and mr. roberts can retire.I think that there should be a time limit for this position so ideas don,t go stale or get in a rut.

  2. Terry,
Hi, Susan posted this and I just wanted to let you know that a person from your past wanted to congratulate you on your accomplishments and your retirement. Does my heart proud to know someone from old hometown has had a productive life. Retirement is everything you make it. Brenham is a beautiful town.
