55-year old Sherill Small is accused of killing 2-year old Alexandria Hill by dropping her on her head in July of last year, while the child was in foster care.

Day two of trial featured testimony of the defendant’s two sisters who stated Alexandria had been put in two-hours of time out on the day she was injured because she had gotten something to eat before anyone else in the house had awaken.

A forensic nurse from Scott and White Hospital in Temple also testified Wednesday that bruises on Alexandria’s chin, arms and behind were consistent with the type of bruising received in an auto accident.

A child abuse expert and the Dallas County medical examiner who performed Alexandria's autopsy are expected to take the stand Thursday, after which the prosecution will rest its case.

The defense is expected to begin presenting its case to jurors Friday morning,

Closing arguments should begin next week.

The 55-year-old grandmother could face life in prison if convicted.
