TEXANS EARN FIRST WIN; COWBOYS COLLAPSE IN SECOND HALF

Ryan Mallett threw for 228 yards and a touchdown, and Alfred Blue rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown to lead the Texans to the 19-9 victory Sunday.

Mallett gave Houston (1-2) a lead with a 5-yard pass to DeAndre Hopkins on the opening drive.

The Buccaneers (1-2), though, took a 9-7 lead in second quarter on Charles Sims’ touchdown reception after an interception by Mallett, but didn't score again.

Blue had a 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, but Randy Bullock missed the extra point to leave Houston up 16-9.

Bullock added a 19-yard field goal with less than two minutes left.

The Texans travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons (3-0) Sunday at noon on KWHI.

 

Atlanta scored 25 unanswered points to comeback to beat the Dallas Cowboys, 39-28, at AT&T Stadium.

Matt Ryan connected with Julio Jones for two touchdowns, while Devonte Freeman ran for 141 yards and three scores, as the Falcons overcame a 28-14 deficit late in the second quarter.

Jones had his third straight 100-yard game to start the season, finishing with 164 and a clinching 2-yard score late in the fourth.

Dallas running back Joseph Randle had 85 yards on his first three carries, including a 37-yard touchdown that helped the Cowboys to a 14-0 lead. He had just 2 yards on his final 11 runs, and the Cowboys had just three first downs in the second half after getting 20 before halftime.

Brandon Weeden was 22 of 26 for 232 yards, but Cole Beasley was the only receiver to catch a pass
The Cowboys travel to New Orleans next Sunday for a prime-time matchup with the Saints.
