Researchers at the Texas A&M College of Medicine have discovered a possible explanation for reoccurring breast cancer.qtq80-ww7UiD

The Texas A&M research team discovered that dormant cancer cells can camouflage themselves from treatment because they cannibalized the body’s own stem cells. The study was recently published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

While the scientist’s findings won’t yield a new treatment anytime soon, the research appears to have uncovered an important insight into what happens when breast cancer becomes dormant.
