TEXAS A&M STUDENT DIES OF MONO JUST DAYS AFTER GETTING THE DIAGNOSIS

A Texas A&M sophomore who had been diagnosed with mononucleosis less than a week ago, died from the illness Wednesday morning.

Christy Crow died at the UTMB Hospital in Galveston.

Family members say she had received the diagnosis  Friday  and then drove back to her hometown of Friendswood.  Her brother reported she had gotten worse through Tuesday night and they took her to the hospital.

Her tonsils were extremely swollen and breathing was difficult.

She died at about 7:30am.

The virus that causes Mono is transmitted through saliva.  It is transmitted through kissing, but you can also be exposed through or by sharing a glass of water or food utensils with someone who has mono.  The disease rarely leads to death however,.
