TEXAS DELEGATION WORKING ON REMOVING CHILDREN

U.S. Senator John Cornyn has joined with Laredo area congresman Henry Cuellar filed a bill Monday that they hope stem the tide of the flood of children coming into Texas from central American countries.
The bill deals with a 2008 law on human trafficking law that gives special consideration protections to children in countries that do not border the United States.,
The new legislation would treat all unaccompanied migrant children crossing the border equally, allowing for voluntary reunification with their families.
Congressman Michael McCaul, who represents the local area, including Brenham and Washington County, and is the Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, is still considering the bill. He said last week that any bill dealing with this crisis needs to send a strong message that illegal immigration is not welcome here and that the children need to be sent back.
