TEXAS GOV. ENCOURAGES TEXANS TO SHOP LOCAL

  

Today is Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year, but a Texas official is asking people to consider shopping small this holiday season.

Gov. Greg Abbott released a story to the American-Statesman today (Friday), encouraging Texans to celebrate the day by visiting some of the 2.4 million small businesses that drive the Texas economy.

Gov. Abbott says small businesses now constitute 98.6 percent of all businesses in Texas and employ nearly half of all private-sector employees.

Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, a day designated to support small, local businesses. A list of Washington County stores offering special deals this weekend as part of Small Business Saturday can be found online at brenhamtexas.com/hotdeals.
