TEXAS HOUSE DISTRICT 13 ELECTION

Tomorrow is Election Day in Texas House District 13.  The voters in Washington, Burleson, Grimes, Austin, Fayette, Colorado and Lavaca counties will decide who will represent them in the Texas House for the next two years.  I know we’ve experienced our fill of elections over the past six months.  But tomorrow’s single race for State Representative is one of the most important decisions for this area in the past decade.  The person who represents us in the Texas Legislature is our voice in state government.  They wield considerable power in getting things done for District 13….and in some cases, making sure some things are not done in District 13.  For 14 years, that person has been Lois Kolkhorst of Brenham.  With her election to the Texas Senate, Lois has left big shoes to fill as State Representative.  Our choices are former Austin County Judge Carolyn Bilski, or Burleson County attorney Leighton Schubert.  I believe either one would serve District 13 well.  But I encourage you to make your own decision and cast your vote.  If you didn’t vote early in this special runoff election this past week, you can still make a difference.  Please take the time tomorrow to vote at your designated precinct.  It only takes five minutes because there’s only one oval to fill in on your ballot.  But it’s important that you help decide our next State Representative for Texas House District 13.  And that’s the way it looks to this Spectator.
