TEXAS SPECIAL OLYMPICS IN BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION

  

Bryan College Station will play host to the Special Olympics Texas over the next two weekends.

4300 athletes and spectators are expected for the Special Olympics Texas Fall Classic in Bryan College Station, beginning this Thursday.  1000 volunteers will help with the sporting competition, which welcomes the athletes with an Opening Ceremony and Celebration Dance this Friday night at College Station High School.

The Special Olympics were formed to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  This weekend the Aquatic events will be held Friday and Saturday at the Texas A&M Natatorium.  Softball and Bocce competition will take place this weekend at Veterans Park Athletic Complex.  Next weekend, October 20th and 21st, Briarcrest Country Club will host the golf competition.
