TEXAS STATE TROOPER WOUNDED BY GUNFIRE FROM MEXICO

  

A Texas state trooper has been wounded on the Texas-Mexico border by a bullet from an apparent gun fight that was underway on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande.handgunFEATURE

Lt. Johnny Hernandez of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the trooper was struck in the leg. It is unclear if the gunfight involved the Mexican military or state police.

The trooper was hit around 1 p.m. Friday while on foot patrol in Fronton, which is about 105 miles from Brownsville. He was taken to McAllen hospital where he is in stable condition. The trooper’s identity has not been released.
