THIS YEAR’S NATIONAL NIGHT OUT TO HAVE BLUE BELL THEME

This year’s National Night Out will have a tasty theme.

This year’s National Night Out theme echoes the community’s backing of law enforcement and Blue Bell. “Neighbors Celebrating Blue Bell” was chosen as a way for citizens to gather together to applaud both the company and the officers for their hard work and dedication.

It has been a long hard summer for the employees of Blue Bell, and while it appears they are on the way to recovery, this community continues to show its support. Along the same line, it’s been a long, hard year for law enforcement, but again, residents have shown their support.

Cpl. Chris Jackson, the Brenham Police Department’s community relations officer says, “National Night Out has always been a way for officers to get out in the neighborhoods and meet our residents. It was started years ago to build partnerships between citizens and police to combat and prevent crime. This past year has been a tough one for those of us in law enforcement, and we need our community’s support more than ever.”

“And, along those same lines, Blue Bell has suffered major setbacks which affected our residents and neighbors, but this community continued to believe and support the company. With Blue Bell again producing the best ice cream in the country, we thought this was a good time to celebrate both them, and law enforcement.”

National Night Out will be held Oct. 6, 2015 with block parties from 6-9 p.m. Anyone wanting to register a block party to ensure law enforcement and other first responders have the opportunity to stop by can contact Jackson at 979-337-7324 or email cjackson@cityofbrenham.org or Ginger Bishop at 979-337-7364, email gbishop@cityofbrenham.org.

“This is one of our favorite functions of the year. The block parties are always fun, and it’s great to see how the themes are played out. We really want to encourage everyone to participate this year, and celebrate with our Blue Bell family and friends,” Jackson said.
