  1. As the Chaplin of Blinn College, I get the chance to interact with lots of Blinn Students, most of which are black. I have discovered something about them over the last five years…they’re KIDS!! We have just as much smoking weed in our high school than we do at Blinn. We have kids smoking in Junior High! The truth is, we have a weed problem with kids in Texas. However, the number of kids smoking is down and at Blinn college, it is a minority. I agree with the others in this feed, if you have not been to Blinn, you need to spend some time there. For one, you will discover Blacks are not a majority. Blinn is a second chance for some, but it’s also an affordable bargain for many students throughout Texas. Crime and Discipline is way down from five years ago when I first arrived thanks to great leadership under Dr. Dennis Crowson, Coaches , Board Member and Educators alike. Blinn is on the rise, and great things are coming. I invite you to come out and hangout with me and see for yourselves. The Kids are some of the best I have ever been around, respectful and loving. All they need is mentoring and love themselves.

  2. Julia it is really I am so aware of the drugs that’s been going at Blinn. But to pull the trigger on a human life you need to repent for that because you didn’t create a life to take. And as far as thugs you’ll wouldn’t know a thug if they standing in your face. See this what separates us a being open minded and straight ignorant. If they had drugs yes its wrong but raising tuition up why? My taxes pay just as much when I pay taxes my money doesn’t say black, white or thug. Revelation is fulfilling itself in case you didn’t what I am talking about its the last book in the bible. The bible that we suppose to read and they teaches us not to hate or wish bad on anyone else. I use my whole name because I am not scared to speak what thus said the lord

  3. Black Lives do Matter, just as White Lives, Hispanic Lives, Asian Lives so forth and so on – but maybe out of the above listed races – there is more news about robbery, drugs, and domestic violence with black lives. True all these crimes are with all races, but at the end of the day, somewhere somehow it is what Black Lives were raised with. It is the life style Black Lives are accustomed to, so perhaps that is why we hear more shootings involving Black Lives. If I were an officer and had to stop these three individuals – I WOULD HAVE MY GUN DRAWN – WITHOUT THE HESTITATION, READY TO PULL THE TRIGGER – why not because they are black – I have already smelled marijuana, which alters their thinking, so they can not respond properly. The main reason the gun is drawn – I would like to go home to my family alive !!!!!
God Bless America – Lets All Just Get Along

      1. Concerned about Brenham what was the statement i made……i would like to go home to my family alive ?

Im not breaking the law, like i said if i were an officer…..the gun would be drawn, they chose their path……and at the end of the day….i will get home safely !

Im not racist, but we hear about “Black Lives” well instead of campaigning so much of how white people treat blacks lets educate black people…..if you as a black man or woman (just like every other race) break the law you have a chance of getting arrested or worse killed !

Then maybe we wont hear about blacks in various crimes everyday !

  4. How about not using marijuana which is still illegal? That would fix a lot of things. If your black life matters, don’t do the drug that is still illegal.

Then you talk about some Blinn students that made “bad mistake and lapse in judgement. I wish texas would at least revisit its stance on marijuana. ruining young peoples lifes and putting them in the system.” If they didn’t do the drug they wouldn’t be in the system, then they could become productive students and people in society. Won’t need government handout after now achieving a criminal record degree.

    1. So if they rape someone instead of doing drugs, they would get a second chance. I recall not long ago that a white teen raped someone and the court felt that prison was not where he needed to be. He needed an opportunity to have a future. He rapes someone and in the end he’ll have no record when it’s over

  5. Seem like some blinn students who made a bad mistake and lapse in judgement. I wish texas would at least revisit its stance on marijuana. ruining young peoples lifes and putting them in the system isn’t doing any good for anybody in the communities or state

    1. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Blinn needs to raise the admission requirements for the college. Too many thugs and criminals come to Brenham every fall and put a burden on our Police Department and citizens, especially those that live close to the campus. It’s beyond ridiculous at this point.

      1. What will increasing the cost of admission or even increasing academic requirements resolve? Nothing! There are not to many thugs or criminals that attend Blinn, have you personal been around the young adults that are there. Or are you just judging based on what may have heard or by the appearance that you may see. I have a son there whom is not a thug nor a criminal. So please don’t put the rest of our young adults who are at Blinn trying to further their education. Oh and what would Brenham economy be like if it wasn’t for those that attend Blinn!

        1. I am judging based on my personal experience and what I see daily on the campus and surrounding areas. I was a student at Blinn 10 years ago and it was not near as bad then as it is now. Now I live near Blinn and observe drug use and loitering almost daily. The police are constantly being called to these areas, yet each semester the issues start over. I see it with my own eyes. If your son is a great student, then I’m sure the increased requirements would not affect him. And one doesn’t have to be black to be considered a thug. I know what a thug is, Leticia.

        2. To raise the admission requirements does not mean to raise the cost of the admission requirements. The admission requirements that need to be maintained is grades, and attendance, and personal conduct. Thirty years ago, if you failed in any of these areas, you were put on probation at Blinn College and your future at Blinn was in jeopardy, if you did not get your act together. Bottom line: There is a difference from receiving a degree, “on campus” vs. “on-line” (also known as a mail-order-degree). That is why an “on campus” degree in more valuable than a mail-order-degree. This is what builds real admirable character and respect of others in the workplace; something that is lacking in the millennial modern workplace. Prospective students need to interview for that position at college, sign a contract where they acknowledge what their required performance is at college, and attend college on campus where their earned degree is a worthy degree (not a mail-order-degree).
