Failure to properly signal the required distance while turning resulted in the arrest of three people early Thursday morning.

According to Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak,  Deputy Sergeant Chris Peschel was on routine patrol at 3:15 a.m. when he observed a sports utility vehicle traveling south on F.M. 2679 approaching the intersection of U.S. Highway 290 West.  As the vehicle approached the intersection, the driver failed to signal turn intent and a traffic stop was initiated.

Sergeant Peschel made contact with the driver, identified as 27 year old Jenna Marie Zientek of Chappell Hill, and during the course of the driver and passenger interviews, Sergeant Peschel  confirmed that the back seat passenger, identified as 29 year old Bruce Bennett Ray II of Brenham had an active felony warrant out of Burleson County.  As Ray exited the vehicle, Deputy Peschel observed several unspent, small caliber bullets lying on the

floorboard near Ray’s feet. The front seat passenger was identified as 28 year old Cory Daniel Martinez of College Station.  An open container of alcohol was observed in the front passenger side door and in a subsequent search of the vehicle, a white glass pipe, commonly used for smoking Methamphetamine, was lying on the driver’s seat in plain view. A gray metal lock box was located in the trunk that contained a .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun along with a magazine loaded with five rounds.  Also in the lockbox were two clear plastic baggies containing a crystal-like substance which field tested positive for Methamphetamine.

Bruce Bennett Ray II was arrested for the Burleson County warrant, Deadly Conduct (third degree felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (third degree felony) and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (third degree felony).

  1. Jenna you’ve made another bad decision. For a pretty girl like you to choose to go down the wrong path again and again is ridiculous. You could move anywhere you want, get a good job and meet new GOOD friends so why you choose to live the life style you live blows my mind. Get help before its too late.

  2. Do you know how many ppl don’t use their signal when turning including law enforcement? They sure got lucky on this stop!

  3. I grew up with Corey, He was always so pleasant. I cant believe he gets into as much trouble as he does. His dad and brother are incredible people. I wish he would have taken example from them.

  4. Corey I have known you for years and am so disappointed in your behavior. I thought you straightened up your life. I pray for you that this is a wake up call to get your life in order and take care of your baby. She needs a father not a criminal.
