THREE PEOPLE HOSPITALIZED AFTER HOUSE FIRE IN WASHINGTON CO.

Three people have been taken to the hospital after an early morning house fire in Washington County.

Just before 5:45 a.m., the Berlin-Mill Creek-Zionsville Volunteer fire department responded to a home near Zionsville, off of FM 2679 for the reported structure fire.

The Brenham Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist in the fire fight.

As crews were responding, it was reported that two people were still inside the home. By the time the fire departments arrived, both people were out of the house.

Three-year-old Isabella Edmondon was flown by helicopter to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Chad Nugent was also burned and transferred to UTMB by ambulance. Jessica Edmonson suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to a local hospital.

Berlin Fire Chief Mike McAnally says the there was heavy fire damage to the kitchen and living room areas, and there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.

McAnally says the cause of the fire is unknown and the State Fire Marshall is currently at the scene investigating.
