The Brenham City Council approved at (Thursday’s) meeting to an ‘advanced funding agreement’ to install a traffic signal on U.S. 290 and Chappell Hill Street once a project is completed that will connect the two roadways.
City Engineer Grant Lischka told the City Council that the Texas Department of Transportation needs to have the traffic signal installed in order to proceed with the project.
Under the funding agreement the city will pay the costs of installing the signal and TxDot would maintain it. Lischka says this will run into money, maybe well over $225,000.
The city has been looking at connecting Chappell Hill Street to290 for several years, in order to improve the flow of traffic through the city.
