TWO ARRESTED FOR DRUG & GUN CHARGES
Two people are in the Washington County jail after their arrests Monday on drug and gun charges.
Monday, Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Forman conducted a traffic stop at Highway 290 West and Lillie Lange Road.
The driver, 26 year old Rosa Chavez of Brenham, originally identified herself as Anna Zuniga which was a false name. Chavez was unlicensed to drive, and had three outstanding warrants for her arrest from three different agencies.
Forman also reports the strong odor of marijuana led to a search of the vehicle, turning up a small amount of marijuana. The passenger, 31-year old Braulio Herrera of Bryan, claimed possession of the marijuana.
Also discovered during the search were 66 grams of crystal methamphetamines and a .25 caliber handgun. The Crystal Meth has an estimated street value of over $6,000.
Chavez and Herrera were both arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail.
Chavez’ bond was set at $107,000 with additional bonds of 6,000 for a theft out of Brazos County and a 1,500 bond out of Navasota for Criminal Trespass. Herrera’s bond was set at $104,500.
GUNS-CRYSTAL METH what is happening to OUR community! Says she is a resident of Brenham what a shame. Once again young people trying to make a quick buck in a mind that is confused with drug use ! With the bonds set so high. perhaps they will not be able to get bonded out right away and HAVE SOME SERIOUS TIME TO THINK ABOUT THINGS !
