TWO ARRESTED FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION IN FAYETTE COUNTY

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrest two for felony possession of marijuana.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, on Friday, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit stopped a 2013 Dodge truck on interstate 10 at the east bound 665 mile-marker near Engle at approximately 10:00am for a traffic violation.

After contact with the driver and passenger was made, several criminal indicators were observed and consent to search the vehicle was obtained.

Thumann deployed his canine Lobos to conduct an exterior search of the vehicle. Lobos alerted to the spare tire under the bed of the truck. Thumann removed the tire and cut it open revealing seven bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 60 pounds.

  1. What about the “fake” weed or synthetic weed???? That has destroyed a lot of people, way more than marijuana! I thank our law enforcement for all they do but I hope they open up their eyes to synthetic marijuana! It is a monster!

  2. Legalize it and we won’t have vehicles on the road with this much marijuana in them. We could use our canine units for better things than sniffing out plants. Meth is a big problem is these rural communities but you rarely hear of a meth dealer or lab getting busted. Methamphetamine destroys lives but marijuana still seems to be the problem Texas law enforcement is the most worried about

  3. Interstate 10 seems to be a major route for marijuana transporting; if only all of those vehicles could be caught as I bet there are many that are missed and make it to their destinations.
