Texas A&M’s vice president of student affairs, Joe Weber, has been named executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation.
According to a TxDOT press statement, Weber will begin in his new role April 23rd.
Weber, who served as a lieutenant general in the U.S. Marine Corps, succeeds Phil Wilson, who earlier this year was named general manager of the Lower Colorado River Authority.
Weber is a Texas A&M graduate and has a master’s degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs.
He was recommended for the TxDOT position by Gov. Rick Perry.
