TXDOT COMES UP WITH NEW PLAN TO DEAL WITH DANGEROUS PLANTERSVILLE INTERSECTION

TXDOT has come up with a plan to deal with the safety concerns at the intersection of Highway 105 and FM 1774 near Plantersville in the wake of two accidents this past weekend, one of them deadly.

The plan includes a proposed grade separation which would take 1774 over 105, but that plan would force some businesses to close, and business owners in the area voiced their objections, then came up with one of their own.

TXDOT will widen the intersection at 105 and 174 and add some turning lanes.

Residents in the area like the idea because nothing will need to be shut down, and will not involve closing some historical buildings.

The changes come after man years of public concerns about that intersection, and two accident that occurred this past weekend, one involved the death of a 20-year-old member of the Plantersville-Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department, and another accident that injured three teenagers.
