TXDOT GIVES UPDATE ON AREA ROAD CLOSURES

TXDOT is still reminding motorist that there are still some road closures in the area, and that there are detours to help with getting around the affected areas.

FM 1948 in Washington County at Lake Somerville is still closed from the May flooding.  If there is more rain, TXDOT anticipates to have it open in about two weeks.

TxDOT has also closed FM 3090 due to damage to bridge damage.  They are asking all motorists who travel this area to not remove the barricades, nor drive around them, but use the detours.   Law enforcement will be patrolling this area to make sure motorists abide by the law.

FM 3090 is also closed at Holland Creek, which is between FM 3455 and FM 149.  The detour north from Navasota is to turn right onto FM 3455, turn left onto SH 90, turn left onto FM 149, then turn left back onto FM 3090.

The detour towards Navasota, from the FM 3090/CR intersection is to travel north on FM 3090, turn right onto FM 149, turn right onto SH 90, turn right onto FM 3455, then turn back left onto FM 3090.

FM 3090 will be closed for the next several weeks while TxDOT does an emergency contract to fix this damage.

TxDOT reminds mototist that it does not close roads to inconvenience people, only to keep them safe, and appreciates everyone’s patience during this closure of FM 3090.

It is a Class B misdemeanor in Texas to drive around or remove barricades at flooded roads.  This is the same as a DWI.  If caught, you may be arrested, have your car impounded, spend up to 180 days in jail and/or be fined up to $2000.00.  You can also be charged for the cost of your rescue.
