UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FOR AREA COUNTIES SHOW DECLINE

  

The unemployment rate for area counties, with Washington County’s rate dropping to 5.3 percent in August, compared to 5.5 percent in July.

That rate is still up 4 tenths of a percent from August of last year’s rate of 4.9 percent.

For Austin County, the August unemployment rate was 4.7 percent, up one-tenth of a percent from July’s rate of 4.8 percent and down 2 tenths of a percent from August 2014 rate of 4.9 percent.

For Burleson County, the August unemployment rate was 4.5 percent, down 3 tenths of a percent from July’s rate of 4.8 percent, and down 5 tenths of a percent from August of last year.

For Grimes County, the August unemployment rate was 5.4 percent, down four tenths of a percent from July, and up four tenths of a percent from August 2014.

For the Brazos Valley, the unemployment rate for August was 4 percent,, down three tenths of a percent from July, and down 6 tenths of a percent from August of 2014.
