UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY SHOWS SLIGHT DROP

  

The unemployment rate for area counties shows the numbers down slightly for September, with the unemployment rate for Washington County showing at 5 percent, down from 5.3 percent in August, a 3 tenths of a percent drop.

A year ago, the September rate for Washington County was 4.4 percent, down six tenths of a percent from this year.

For Austin County, the September unemployment rate was 4.6 percent, down 1 tenth of a percent of August rate 4.7 percent, but up slightly from the September 2014 rate of 4.5 percent.

For Burleson County, the September unemployment rate was 4.4 percent, down one tenth of a percent from August rate of 4.5 percent, and even with September 2014 rate.

For Grimes County, the September unemployment rate is 5.2 percent, down 2 tenths of a percent from the August rate of 5.4 percent, but up from September 2014 rate of 4.4 percent.

For the Brazos Valley, the September unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, down 2 tenths of a percent from the August rate of 4 percent, and the same as September 2014 rate of 4 percent.

  1. Citizen – I don’t think they reflect those who are no longer looking for jobs. Once your unemployment runs out and you still have no job, the state is no longer tracking you.
