UNUSUAL ILLEGAL WEAPON FOUND

A 44-year old Brenham man is facing numerous charges, including the possession of a different kind of illegal weapon, after a late Sunday night arrest near Blinn College and Jackson Street Park.

Brenham Police Officer David Dudenhoeffer was on a foot patrol in the 1200 block of Green Street because there had been a rash of criminal activity there recently.

He walked up to an older model Chevy pickup truck because he thought it was suspicious.

The officer asked the man inside, Shannon Scott Raska to step out of the truck and answer some questions.

Raska came out with a box cutter but put it away when the officer told him to.

During questioning Dudenhoeffer could see a hand made club, apparently designed to commit assaults inside the truck.  When Dudenhoeffer began questioning him, it appeared that Raska was trying to hide something.  The officer tried to arrest him, but once he put handcuffs on Raska he pulled away and began struggling with Dudenhoeffer.   Raska was subdued and arrested.  He is now facing possession of an unlawful weapon, possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
