UPDATE ISSUED ON AMAZON PACKAGE DELIVERY

The USPS today issued an update on the story that was written around May 4th concerning the delivering of packages from Amazon.

The update says:

We have been delivering Amazon.com packages since the company began operating. In 2013, the Postal Service began offering Sunday Amazon package delivery in select markets.   Since then, our partnership has expanded and we now deliver Amazon.com packages and other packages from businesses in most major metro areas in the country.

Unfortunately, a local postal manager misunderstood instructions regarding guidelines for package delivery to the door.  As soon as we became aware of the misunderstanding, the Postal Service took immediate steps to clarify our policy to all employees.  We make every attempt to deliver packages to our customers and do not leave packages at the doors of closed businesses.  We apologize for the miscommunication and any inconvenience that may have been caused.

As online shopping continues to increase exponentially, the Postal Service is very pleased to be able to offer shipping solutions that allow major mailers and customers alike to appreciate the benefits of using the U.S. Mail.

By offering Sunday delivery, the Postal Service is focused on serving the needs of our valued customers in today’s busy online world.
