UT REGENT IMPEACHMENT DELAYED

  

The impeachment of a University of Texas Regent will not take place this month.

Texas lawmakers will not meet this month to consider articles of impeachment against Regent Wallace Hall because too many committee members are not in the state capital.

The next meeting of the eight member House Select Committee on Transparency in           State Agency Operations had tentatively scheduled a meeting for this week.

The impeachment allegations are that Hall released student information, bullied university staff and officials and made burdensome public records requests to his efforts to uncover wrongdoing.

University of Texas Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa recently confirmed he had approved an investigation into admissions practices at the systems flagship campus in Austin.
