VOLLEYBALL WORKOUTS BEGIN TODAY
The 2017 Brenham Cubette volleyball team is opening up workouts this morning at the Brenham High School Gym.
The Cubettes are looking for a return to the playoffs in 2017 after missing out on the post-season last year with a 20-25 record (5-9 in district).
The Cubettes will get their first taste of competition with a pair of scrimmages this weekend. They will face Cy Falls, Friday morning at 9:00 at Cy Falls; then travel to Cinco Ranch for a scrimmage, Saturday morning at 9:00.
The season opener will be next Tuesday night, as they host Brazos at 6:00 p.m.
The Cubettes will be in tournament play each of the following three weekends (Pearland, New Braunfels, George Ranch).
The District 20/5A opener is Friday, September 8 at home to Willis.
In Burton, the Lady Panthers begin workouts today under new head coach, Jessica Parrish.
The Lady Panthers were 27-5 and advanced to the Region Semifinals last year, before falling to Weimar.
Friday, the Lady Panthers will scrimmage at Iola, against several teams beginning at 9:00.
Burton will host Lexington next Tuesday in the season opener. The will play in weekend tournaments at Huntsville, Schulenburg and Rice Consolidated.
The District opener is September 8th at Fayetteville.
