WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE

The Washington County Commissioners Court will meet on Tuesday to discuss the reappointment of members to the Regional Transportation Planning Committee for the Brazos Valley Council of Governments.

Regional Transportation through the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) serves a variety of purposes throughout the region. The main function of regional transportation at BVCOG is serving as the Regional Planning Organization for transportation in the region, connecting local government leaders with state and federal agencies providing transportation infrastructure and funding.

The Commissioners will also consider the approval of a letter agreement from Rutledge Crain & Company to provide auditing services to Washington County for the year ending December 31, 2016.

In other business, the County Commissioners will act upon a formal notice for a buried utility line for Corix Utilities on Quebe Road.

The Washington County Commissioners Court will meet on Tuesday at 9 a.m. in chambers 103 at the Washington County Courthouse.

  1. Does this Committee has anything to do with getting public transportation in Brenham? A bus system like in major cities, maybe even a minibus public transportation service. It’s sad that some of the senior citizens have to pay someone $20 for a ride to Walmart. The City of Brenham is growing but not all things are being improved. .

    1. The Brazos Valley Area Agency on Aging coordinates rides for seniors over age 60 that have no other means of transportation.

  2. Does this Transportation Committee have anything to do with City of Brenham street planning? Recently the City of Brenham Planner approved Old Mill Creek Road to stay the narrow road with all the new construction in the area. This has created a traffic danger. The committee needs to review this inadequate road condition that was approved.
