WASHINGTON CO. EXTENSION SERVICE OFFERING SOIL TESTING

The Brazos Valley Soil and Forage Testing Campaign is underway in Washington County.

Now through November 15th, agricultural producers have the opportunity to have their soil tested for fertility, and receive a recommendation to improve the fertility required to produce the best crop.  Soil sample bags and submittal forms are available at four locations in Washington County.  The Washington County Extension Service at 1305 East Blue Bell Road;  Cattleman’s Supply at 1850 Texas 105; Luedemann Feed and Farm at 6703 Old Mill Creek Road;  and Brenham Produce at 1103 South Market, all in Brenham.  The cost for a routine soil analysis is $7, and one with micronutrients is $14.  The program is for agriculture producers only, and not for testing of lawn or garden soil.

Producers also have the opportunity to submit Forage Samples for analysis during this campaign at a reduced fee.  Quarter-size samples should be submitted in a paper sack or envelope with information on sample ID and forage type.

The Brazos Valley Soil and Forage Testing Campaign is made possible through the support of the Washington County Beef and Forage Committee and in cooperation with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Soil, Water and Forage Testing Lab in College Station.
