WASHINGTON CO. JOBLESS RATE DIPS SLIGHTLY

  

The jobless rate in Washington County’s dropped slightly in December.

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the county’s unemployment rate last month dropped a tenth-of-a-percent to 3.6 percent, down from November’s 3.7 percent.

The county’s labor force in December was 14,501, with 523 unemployed. The November workforce was 14,447, with 536 jobless.

One year ago, Washington County had an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent.

The state unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in December, two-tenths below the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.1 percent.

The December jobless rates for surrounding counties include:

  • Austin County — 3.5 percent—down one-tenth from November.
  • Brazos County — 2.5 percent—down a-tenth.
  • Burleson County — 3.7 percent—unchanged from last month.
  • Fayette County — 3 percent—also unchanged.
  • Grimes County — 4.3 percent—unchanged, as well.
  • Lee County — 3 percent—down one-tenth.
  • Waller County — 4.2 percent—down one-tenth.

  1. Are there any jobs here who hire felons that have done their time,rehabilitated,and a job that could actually pay the bills? Im not too sure fast food is going financially support someone,who has rent,utilities,food,and daily living expenses.I get that these people once commited crime,but now they are struggling to survive after they are out of prison because of their past.
