WASHINGTON CO. PATROL SERGEANT RECOGNIZED FOR DWI WORK

A Washington County Patrol Sergeant has been honored for his DWI enforcement efforts.

Patrol Sergeant Chris Peschel was recently recognized for his work in DWI prevention and arrests at the annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) luncheon.

The “Heroes of the Highway” luncheon was held Tuesday in Wellborn and honored 22 officers from surrounding law enforcement agencies. Brenham Police Department’s Cpl. Steven Eilert was also honored during the event.  The recipients were selected based on having the highest number of DWI arrests for their agency and for their ability to provide prosecutors with the necessary evidence to secure convictions.

Peschel began working with the Sheriff’s Office as a jailer in 2007.  In 2012, he was transferred to the patrol division and in January 2015 was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Sheriff Hanak says he continues to support the efforts and goals of MADD and recognizes the necessity of DWI prevention and enforcement.
