WASHINGTON CO. POPULATION CONTINUES TO GROW

  

The U.S. Census Bureau reports continued growth for Washington County.

The latest figures released by the bureau show Washington County’s population increased by just over 700 people since the last official census in 2010.

The latest estimates, as of July 1, 2014, put the number of residents at 34,438. The 2010 census put Washington County’s population at 33,718.

The county has seen a steady increase in its population, with the 2011 estimate at 33,972; 2012 — 33,866; and 2013 — 34,169.

Each year, the United States Census Bureau adds births and “migrations” into to the county’s “estimate base”.

Population estimates for surrounding counties were:

Austin County — up 700 to 29,114.
Brazos County — up 15,000 to 209,152.
Burleson County — up 70 to 17,253.
Fayette County — up 300 to 24,833.
Grimes County — up 1,500 to 27,172.
Lee County — up 130 to 16,742.
Waller County — up 3,600 to 46,820.
