WASHINGTON CO. PRECINCT THREE CANDIDATES PREPARE FOR ELECTION DAY

  

As election day nears, local candidates are gearing up for the final week of their campaigns.

One of the local contested races is for Washington County Commissioner for Precinct Three. Republican incumbent Kirk Hanath is running against democrat challenger, Joanne Doherty.precinct3feature

Kirk Hanath is in his third term as County Commissioner for Precinct 3, having served since 2004. The forty-three year old Brenham native is a graduate of Brenham High School, and Blinn College. He also
attended the University of Texas at Austin. Hanath says he has gotten the chance to speak with many residents during his campaign:

Hanath's challenger, Joanne Doherty, is a fifth generation Texan. She has lived in Washington County for 16 years. Born in Houston, Doherty practiced law there in both private practice and as an Assistant United States Attorney. Doherty says the election process has been nothing but positive for her:
