A Washington County man known for his artistic donations to local charities has died.

Myrv Cron died Wednesday, he was 92.

Among Cron’s favorite pastimes was wood working.  His specialty was carving intricate and realistic replicas of various types of birds, which he would often donate as fundraising auction items which benefitted countless charities in Washington County.

Cron spent much of his life in Houston, where he founded Cron Chemical Corporation.  He and his wife Katie moved to Chappel Hill in 1983, opening up the Mulberry House Bed and Breakfast.

Cron was involved in a number of organizations, including the Rotary for 52 years, past Chairman and Director of Washington County Council, VP and Treasurer of Chappell Hill Historical Society, Treasurer of Washington County Heritage Society and Treasurer of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. In addition, he was a board member of the Independence Historical Society and was on the Board of Trinity Health Services Foundation.

A memorial service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham.
