WASHINGTON COUNTY EMS RECEIVES AWARD DURING COMMISSIONERS MEETING

The Washington County Commissioners heard a presentation by the American Heart Association of the 2015 Mission Lifeline EMS Bronze Level Recognition Award to the Washington County EMS when they met this morning.

For ten years, the American Heart Association has been working with hospitals to how well they attended to patients coming in suffering heart attacks.

The Washington County EMS received the Bronze Level Recognition Award, one of only 46 agencies in Texas to be recognized. The Bronze Award was received, not due to problems with services, but because Washington County is a smaller county, and does not service as many patients

Lu Hollander of the Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau gave a presentation of the Second Quarter Report, January through March.

Hollander says that rain during March caused a lower than average number of visitors to the Visitors Center, however the Uptown Swirl pulled in a number of visitors to the city. The number of information mailed was up also due to the Uptown Swirl, according to Hollander.

Also bringing in the crowds were the bluebonnets and the Antique visitors.

The number of visitors to VisitBrenhamTexas.com was down, and Hollander says that she and the staff will be looking into the cause of that.

Results of the Ag Day event and Car Seat Checkup event was presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Science.

Despite the rain, 20 car seats were checked. Out of those, only one child was restrained properly, twelve car seats were given out, and one child arrived restrained improperly.

The Fairgrounds Manager approved the pending Fairground’s Management’s Rental and Regulations Contracts.
