WASHINGTON COUNTY JAIL AND STAFF RECEIVE HIGH COMMENDATIONS

The jailers and staff of the Washington County Jail have received high commendation from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards after a recent, unannounced visit from the Executive Director of the Commission.

Brandon Wood, the director, sent a letter to Sheriff Otto Hanak and the Washington County Commissioners, commending the jailers, jail staff and jail command staff on the transformation that jail had recently received, saying that “what I saw is one of the most remarkable transformations of an existing facility I have seen in almost 17 years. It is evident that you and your staff take your responsibilities seriously, and they have pride in the change that has occurred.”

Wood went on to say that “your staff exemplify professionalism in one of the hardest and most misunderstood careers there is.”

Sheriff Hanak says that “the task of providing all the things necessary to maintain proper, legal and adequate jail service at this level is incredible, to say the least.”
