WASHINGTON COUNTY TAX APPRAISALS MAILED OUT LAST WEEK

Tax Appraisal notices in Washington County were mailed out last week.  Chief Appraiser Willy Dilworth says that just over 13,000 notices were mailed out Wednesday of last week and the majority have been delivered so far.  Dilworth says that commercial properties in particular are seeing an increase in value this year:

Dilworth says that prices per acre of larger properties in the county are going up and that is increasing those land values:

Dilworth says that the deadline for filing a protest on your appraisal is June 8th this year.

  1. Lol yup….try getting that “market value” amount in a sell! My question is why does the value go up every year regardless of the condition of the property/residence. Ya know, the average working couple homeowners can only afford so much. Every bill that a resident receives continuously raises every year. From electricity to cable to taxes to everything related to normal living, but salaries and wages have remained as low as possible….anyone forsee a MAJOR problem looming in the future? Changes and major changes need to be made to the system and the entire system that is….

  2. My question to anyone that knows the answer is, What qualifications are required to become a tax appraiser? what school, Degree or course is needed ? The taxes on my property do not upset me, what does however bother me is the inconsistent appraisals. For example in my neighborhood, homes that are much larger with very elaborate back yards ( Outdoor kitchens large pools with waterfalls and spas) are appraised at a much lower value than my small home. sometimes as much as $ 50,000 to $70,000 , so I just would like to know how these people are trained ? and what really qualifies them to do the job.?
